A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

We are looking for an Elementary Special Education Teacher to join our District. We are looking for certified and highly qualified and experienced candidates with the following attributes: Valid NYS Teacher Certification Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) Students with Disabilities (B-2), (1-6), (7-12), or All Grades Enthusiastic and Passionate about Working with all Students Ability to work Collaboratively with Co-Professionals Ability to Communicate Effectively with students and parents Competent in Completing Assessments and Reporting as Appropriate Able to Write, Interpret and Administer IEP's Plan for, Provide, and Document Instruction for SWDs Understand NYS mandates for Individual Education Plans Provide Instruction for SWDs Consistent with NYS Standards and NYS Regulations
