A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

•IMMEDIATE OPENING
• An exciting opportunity for a NYS Special Ed certified teacher with an interest in therapeutic education to join our 12-month program. Looking for a patient, creative, flexible, and organized individual to teach highly vulnerable children with mental illness. Work as an integrated member of therapeutic treatment team delivering high-quality services to students and their families in a day treatment setting. Immediate opening in self-contained classroom grades 4-6. Westchester, NY.
Required:
NYS Special Ed Certification grades 1-6 or Students with Disabilities all grades.
