Job Description

Take on a fulfilling contract role as a Special Education Teacher, making a meaningful difference in the lives of secondary students. This assignment runs from early September through late October, offering the chance to provide tailored support to students in grades 11-12 during a critical phase of their academic journey. The position is onsite, located near Elmira, NY, working 35 hours per week in a supportive and collaborative school environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

Valid New York State Special Education Teacher license with all required endorsements and certifications Experience teaching secondary-level students (11-12th grade), particularly those with Emotional Disabilities (ED) Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills Ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive classroom environment Previous experience in a school setting preferred

Role Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction to 11th and 12th grade students with emotional and behavioral needs Develop, monitor, and update IEPs in compliance with state and federal guidelines Collaborate with other educators, counselors, and related service providers for student support Employ adaptive strategies and differentiated instruction to address diverse learning abilities Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with families Participate in team meetings, IEP reviews, and professional development as required
