Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher, supporting students in a secondary self-contained classroom for learners with complex needs. This role is available for the entire school year, with a start date of October 13, 2026, and will run until a permanent teacher is appointed internally. Youll play a vital role in creating an inclusive, supportive environment that empowers every student to achieve their goals. In this position, you will lead a 6:1:2 class structuresix students, one teacher, and two aidesdelivering core content instruction tailored to diverse and unique educational requirements. The school day runs Monday through Friday, from 7:15 am to 2:45 pm.
Desired Experience & Skills:
Certification in Special Education (valid in New York State) Demonstrated experience working with students with significant and diverse needs, preferably in a secondary self-contained classroom setting Strong skills in classroom management, differentiated instruction, and adapting curriculum for individual student goals Ability to collaborate with support staff, therapists, and families to support student progress Excellent organizational and communication skills Commitment to fostering a positive, growth-oriented classroom culture
Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging lessons across core subjects aligned to IEP goals Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet individualized needs Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district special education requirements Work closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and administrative staff Develop and implement behavior plans as needed, ensuring a safe and productive environment Take this chance to make a significant difference in the lives of students who need your expertise the most.
