Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a dynamic, collaborative school setting in the greater Johnson City, NY area. This full-time, onsite contract role will serve students across a range of abilities, providing expertise and support essential to their educational success throughout the 2026-2027 school year (exact dates to follow).
Skills and Experience Desired:
Valid and current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Prior experience working with children or adolescents with hearing loss Strong knowledge of both auditory-oral and manual communication methods Ability to develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with students, staff, and families Adaptability to support various learning styles and environments A genuine passion for advocacy and student empowerment
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing within school environments Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure each student's needs are addressed in the academic setting Adapt general education curriculum materials and methodologies to suit individual needs Consult and train classroom teachers regarding adaptations and assistive technology Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for students to thrive Experience a rewarding assignment in a welcoming school community, with ongoing professional growth opportunities and the satisfaction of contributing directly to student achievement.
