Job Description

The Niagara Falls City School District is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Building Trades Instructor to provide engaging, hands-on instruction to students through a comprehensive Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of the building trades industry, demonstrate strong project management skills, and be committed to preparing students for careers in the skilled trades through authentic, project-based learning experiences. Qualifications Valid New York State CTE Certification in Business or related certification appropriate for Building Trades instruction. Extensive knowledge and practical experience in building trades principles and applications. Strong understanding of industry-standard hand and power tools and safe operating procedures. Experience implementing and facilitating project-based learning. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting timelines and instructional goals. Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with community organizations, labor unions, and industry professionals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide 40 weeks of instruction in Building Trades principles and applications to multiple levels of students. Develop and deliver engaging, hands-on, project-based learning experiences both on and off campus. Supervise and ensure the safe use of hand and power tools by students. Plan, organize, and coordinate projects and events involving Building Trades unions and industry partners. Collaborate with school and district administrators to identify and develop meaningful community-based projects. Coordinate with school and district staff to utilize facilities and shared workspaces for project development and construction activities. Manage multiple student projects concurrently while maintaining quality, safety, and instructional objectives. Determine project material needs and oversee the ordering, inventory, and management of supplies and equipment. Monitor student progress and provide guidance that supports career readiness and skill development. Meet regularly with school administration to review project status, program goals, student progress, and ongoing needs.
