Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting students in an in-person setting at a well-established educational program in the Hornell, NY area. This assignment is ideal for a dedicated educator with expertise in teaching students with Emotional Disabilities (ED) and a passion for making a positive difference in their academic journey. The role is full-time, spanning 35 hours per week from September 8, 2026, to October 30, 2026.

Desired Qualifications:

Current, active New York State Special Education Teaching license with all necessary endorsements and certifications Demonstrated experience teaching middle or high school students, particularly those with Emotional Disabilities (ED) Familiarity with IEP implementation and progress monitoring Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt to various learning styles Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and interdisciplinary teams Ability to maintain accurate and confidential student records Open to working fully onsite in a school environment

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver individualized instruction and support to students in grades 11-12 with Emotional Disabilities Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports academic and social-emotional growth Collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff to ensure students' success Manage daily classroom routines and maintain accurate documentation of student progress Participate in team meetings, parent conferences, and professional development activities This position offers the chance to work alongside a supportive staff within a collaborative school culture.
