Job Description

Make a difference supporting students with complex needs in a highly impactful environment. This contract opportunity is available near Pittsford, NY, serving as a secondary special education teacher in a self-contained 6:1:2 classroom. The assignment will continue until the district hires for the role internally, with a start date of 10/13/2026. Hours are Monday to Friday, 7:15 am to 2:45 pm.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education teaching certification (New York State) Proven experience working with secondary-level students with significant and complex needs Skilled in adapting curricula and differentiating instruction for various learner profiles Strong classroom management and communication skills Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and support staff in a team-oriented classroom
Core Responsibilities:
Teach core academic subjects to a small class (6 students, 1 teacher, 2 assistants) with diverse and complex learning needs Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), track progress, and modify strategies as needed Create a supportive, structured, and positive learning atmosphere Work closely with related service providers and families to ensure continuity of support Maintain accurate records in compliance with district and state requirements Participate in team meetings, ongoing professional development, and contribute to a culture of inclusion and growth This position offers the chance to positively influence students academic and social-emotional development in a specialized setting.
