Job Description

Make a meaningful impact supporting elementary students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a welcoming educational environment near Wappingers Falls, NY. This contract position offers the opportunity to provide specialized instruction and advocacy for young learners in a single elementary school setting. Youll collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to ensure that each student receives the support they need to succeed academically and socially. With an immediate start available through June 2027, and a manageable caseload, this part-time role is perfect for dedicated educators who want to focus on high-quality instruction while maintaining a balanced schedule.
Qualifications and Skills:
Valid New York State Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH) certification required Experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a school setting preferred Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with educators, families, and students Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Knowledge of current best practices for Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction Dedication to fostering an inclusive and accessible classroom environment
Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and support to elementary students with hearing loss, approximately 10 hours per week Develop and adapt lessons to meet students unique needs and learning goals Consult regularly with general education teachers, specialists, and families Monitor student progress and document outcomes in accordance with district and legal requirements Advocate for accessibility and accommodations within the school environment Participate in IEP meetings and professional development as needed This rewarding opportunity invites you to inspire and empower young learners in a supportive setting.
