A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Jefferson-Lewis BOCES with initial assignment in a Component District or Center-based classroom in Jefferson or Lewis CountySTARTING DATE

Commensurate with certification/experience in keeping with the current negotiated agreement with the BOCES Professional Association. The Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing provides specialized instruction to K-12 students who have a hearing disability. Services include direct instruction, consultation, and co-teaching as appropriate. Preferred candidates will possess solid interpreting skills.Qualifications:
NYS Certification as Teacher of Deaf & Hearing Impaired or Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing.Benefits
