A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

We have full-time opportunities available across elementary, middle, and high school grade levels. Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation. Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, school administrators, and families to support student success. Foster a structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes academic, behavioral, and social growth. Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and district requirements. Qualifications Valid New York Special Education Teaching License (required). Minimum one year of experience in a Special Education classroom. Strong knowledge of IEP development, differentiated instruction, classroom management, and progress monitoring. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
