Archbishop Hoban High School is seeking a Mild to Moderate Intervention Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will provide focused support and accommodations for students with learning differences, helping them succeed both academically and socially. This is a full-time 10-month salaried position. We are a private Catholic School located in the heart of East Akron and rooted in the Holy Cross tradition. Our Holy Cross educators nurture student achievement and growth through collaborative planning and execution of curricula and encourage an expectation of lifelong learning.Position Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, counselors, and administrators to analyze student performance, review assessment data, support inclusion, and plan appropriate intervention strategies.
- Participate in IEP meetings with parents/guardians, administrators, and other stakeholders. Provide data to support the development of the IEP to the home school district and advocate for the student and family.
- Provide accommodations, modifications, and interventions to students identified and qualified for special education.
- Monitor individual student progress and provide meaningful feedback to students and parents/guardians.
- Integrate assistive technology tools to support students with learning differences.
- Provide accommodations for classroom testing and standardized testing.
- Attend accommodation plan meetings and student support team meetings.
- Regularly assess and monitor students' progress towards intervention goals.
- Adjust instructional strategies based on ongoing assessment data.
- Collaborate with students, parents/guardians, and college and career counselors to prepare for the transition to post-secondary life.
- Maintain open communication with parents/guardians and provide updates on student progress.
- Demonstrate commitment to the well-being and success of students with learning differences.
- Communicate effectively with other members of the educational team.
- Stay informed about and ensure compliance with special education laws and regulations.
- Provide specialized instruction to students with special needs in one-on-one, small-group, or inclusion settings in accordance with IEPs and/or ISPs.
- Administer formative and summative progress evaluations to demonstrate the effectiveness of instructional practices.
Position Qualifications:
- Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist license, mild to moderate.
- Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree.
- Experience writing IEPs and/or ISPs.
- Collaborative and constructive team-building skills.
- Create and implement initiatives that empower students to achieve their fullest academic, personal, and social potential.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with students, parents/guardians, and other staff members.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and use sound judgment.
- Appropriate criminal records check by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
