Job Description We are seeking a creative, energetic, and nurturing Lower School STEM Teacher to join our vibrant school community at Fuchs Mizrachi School in Beachwood, Ohio. This role is designed for an educator who loves to turn "why?" into "let's find out!" You will be responsible for introducing our 1st through 5th-grade students to the wonders of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math through hands-on exploration and play-based discovery.
Responsibilities Deliver Engaging Instruction:
Teach foundational STEM concepts to students in grades 1-5 using high-energy, hands-on, and age-appropriate instructional methods.
Curriculum Development:
Design and implement a dynamic Lower School STEM curriculum that emphasizes the scientific inquiry.
Foster Discovery:
Lead activities in basic coding, simple robotics, "maker" projects, and environmental science that build fine motor skills and logical thinking.
Integrated Learning:
Collaborate with general studies classroom teachers to link STEM lessons with grade-level themes in literacy, social studies, and Judaics.
Laboratory Management:
Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring STEM lab or makerspace environment conducive to young learners.
Growth Mindset:
Cultivate a classroom culture where "mistakes" are viewed as essential steps in the learning and prototyping process.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Science Education, or a related STEM field required.
Experience:
Previous experience teaching at the elementary level (K-5) is highly preferred.
Technical Skills:
Familiarity with age-appropriate tools such as ScratchJr/Scratch, LEGO Education, Bee-Bots, and basic crafting/building tools.
Pedagogy:
Strong understanding of child development and how to translate complex concepts into simple, relatable lessons.
Soft Skills:
High patience and the ability to turn a high-energy, hands-on classroom into a productive learning environment.
