Valid Ohio Certification/Licensure by the State of Ohio, Department of Education to instruct in his/her area of professional competency and/or assignment Certificate/License for Special Education Valid Ohio Driver's License Must pass criminal background checkGENERAL DESCRIPTION
Assume responsibility for the delivery of quality instruction and assessment in his/her specific assignment. Will ensure that maximum learning can take place to help students learn subject matter and skill that will contribute to their understanding of the concepts and critical thinking skills as mature and responsible citizens and members of the workforce.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides direct supplemental instruction to those students requiring support in the academic, applied and/or related areas. Supports academic instructors in the classroom, and provides individual, small group instruction to meet needs, specifically designed instruction and ability of students. Provides all necessary support services for students with disabilities. Maintains written progress reports for students served to include, but not limited to, formal assessments, pre and post- tests, and daily assignments. Develops and prepares a variety of teaching aids/resources and instruction to supplement academic instruction classes. Prepares and maintains a weekly schedule of students to be served and maintain close communication and interaction with regular academic and career technical instructors. Maintains close communications and a "team" effort with all staff. Maintains appropriate learning atmosphere through utilization of available resources and equipment. Makes modifications within the curriculum according to the student's IEP. Assists with Ohio graduation assessments administration for the students who require accommodations. Maintains up to date IEP records in accordance with federal and state mandated compliance. Creates an environment for success, fosters a love of learning while creativity and risk taking are valued and encouraged. Assists students in constructing their own learning and holding students responsible for their own behavior. Commits to meeting high quality educational standards for self and students. Maintains up to date knowledge of technology utilized by the district to enhance the teaching and learning process. Assures appropriate supervision of students at all times. Participates in open houses, parent conferences, attend all faculty and departmental meetings in accordance with district policy and the Master Contract. Provides intervention for those students who have been identified as requiring additional academic instruction. Works with family, school, business/industry and community to maximize educational opportunities for students. Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual. Maintains valid teaching license with appropriate endorsement(s) for the position to which the employee is assigned. Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, his/her designee, or the employees' principal/supervisor or his/her designee.OTHER DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
