STEAM Director/Instructor Direct Instruction
- Serve as the classroom teacher of record for STEAM instruction for students in grades K-8, delivering standards-aligned lessons in the STEAM classroom;
- Plan, differentiate, and deliver developmentally appropriate STEAM instruction across all grade bands served (K-8), adjusting content, pacing, and complexity by grade level;
- Manage the STEAM classroom environment, schedule, and materials for daily use by all K-8 classes rotating through it; Instructional Leadership & Coaching
- Observe STEAM lessons across classrooms and provide actionable, growth-oriented feedback to teachers on instructional practice, engagement strategies, and standards alignment;
- Co-plan STEAM lessons and units with classroom teachers, ensuring attainment of state learning standards and Common Core standards;
- Develop and teach model Project-Based Learning (PBL) lessons in classrooms as a demonstration of best practice for all staff;
- Coach teachers on adapting and enriching curriculum using multiple strategies and online tools to actively engage students in imaginative, real-world learning;
- Build teacher capacity to guide students in developing broader 21st Century competencies needed for success in a complex, evolving world;
- Facilitate professional development workshops and coaching cycles focused on STEAM instruction, PBL design, and technology integration; Curriculum & Program Development
- Develop, refine, and vertically align STEAM curriculum and lesson plans across grade levels;
- Design classroom experiences that teach students not just facts, but how to apply learning to solve real-world problems;
- Ensure STEAM programming is student-centric, holistic, and teaches students how to learn as much as it teaches subject-area content;
- Provide ample opportunities for students to develop 21st century skills through activities outside the classroom, such as student organizations, physical activities, and service learning;
- Stay current on emerging tools and web technologies, evaluating and integrating those with the greatest potential to serve student needs; Materials, Resources & Community Partnerships
- Oversee the use, maintenance, and equitable distribution of all STEAM materials, equipment, and technology present in the building, ensuring resources are accessible and actively utilized across classrooms;
- Maintain inventory and manage requests, upkeep, and replacement of STEAM materials and equipment;
- Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with community organizations, local businesses, and partners to bring real-world resources, guest expertise, and enrichment opportunities into STEAM instruction;
- Coordinate community-based learning experiences, partnerships, and service-learning opportunities that extend STEAM learning beyond the classroom;
- Ensure staff are informed of and trained in available STEAM materials, tools, and community resources; Data & Technology
- Stay fully connected to learning data and tools for using that data, along with content, resources, and systems, to create, manage, and assess engaging and relevant learning experiences;
- Support teachers in using data to inform STEAM instructional decisions;
- Model information, media, and technology savviness for staff and students;
- General School and Classroom Responsibilities
- Understands, accepts, and abides by the Academy's philosophy and mission statement in all school activities;
- Responsible for leading and implementing instructional practices for all STEAM-related classes across the building;
- Models tolerance, global awareness, reflective practice, and the behaviors expected of students and staff;
- Prepares instructional and programmatic plans as directed;
- Supports administration of standardized testing as directed;
- Maintains accurate records related to STEAM programming, coaching logs, materials inventory, and community partnerships;
- Maintains confidentiality concerning all student information and professional matters;
- Works with staff to improve student learning and achievement;
- Deploys sound classroom management techniques when modeling lessons;
- Engages in collaboration with colleagues as a model of "connected educator," building positive working relationships with students, parents, school personnel, and the public;
- Required to attend and/or participate in school activities as directed by the Principal, such as staff meetings, open houses, chaperoning student activities, faculty committees, and school problem-solving efforts;
- Follows all corporate and Academy policies and procedures;
- Participates in and helps design professional development workshops/programs;
- Maintains status of Highly Qualified Teacher as per federal definition (if applicable);
- Performs other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the Principal and Management Company.

Principal Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree; advanced degree in Education, STEAM-related field, or Instructional Leadership preferred;
- Certification/Licensure in appropriate teaching area; NCLB Highly Qualified;
- Prior classroom teaching experience, preferably in a STEAM discipline, and/or instructional coaching experience preferred;
- Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating Project-Based Learning;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Proficient in computer applications;
- Knowledgeable in use of web resources, online tools, and technology tools, including STEAM-specific equipment and platforms;
- Effective organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple schools, staff, and priorities simultaneously;
- Experience building and sustaining community and business partnerships preferred;
- Satisfactory completion of local, state, and federal criminal history check and TB test.
