General Responsibilities:
Assist teachers in the instruction and supervision of students with disabilities, including those with physical, cognitive, emotional, and/or behavioral needs
Performance Responsibilities:
Maintain confidentiality at work and outside of work Continually work toward/support student(s) developing independence Assist and supervise arrival and departure of student(s) as directed by the intervention specialist Assist and supervise student(s) in any instructional setting, including but not limited to: general education classroom, resource classroom, lunchroom, playground, restroom, physical education activities, field trips, hallways Assist with instruction of student(s) as directed by the intervention specialist using appropriate methods and materials Assist in the preparation and/or organization of instructional materials and lessons as directed by the intervention specialist When needed, assist student(s) with assignments, tests, homework and record keeping as directed by the intervention specialist Assist with collection of data with proper training Review and become familiar with students' IEP when applicable Assist with student(s) personal hygiene needs, health needs, and/or non-medical procedures as directed by the Director of Special Education and/or building administrator, with appropriate training Position and/or perform one-person lift of student weighing up to 60 lbs. when needed with appropriate training Position and/or perform lifting of student(s) with a mechanical lift apparatus with appropriate training Be willing to learn and utilize different modalities of communication with student(s) Respond and interact with student(s) and adults in a positive, thoughtful, and appropriate manner Set a professional image for Kenston Local Schools through the use of interpersonal skills. These skills include, but are not limited to: courteous manners, proper work attire, a positive attitude, and cooperative demeanor Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education and/or the building administrator that may be necessary for the education of students Student assignment may change at any time during the school year. The building assignment may change at any time during the school year, and/or annually.
