The Intervention Specialist prepares and delivers provides appropriate academic, behavioral, and daily living skill instruction and services that align with educational best practice standards, Ohio Extended State Academic Standards, as well as meets the special needs of the student population. The Intervention Specialist works in collaboration with the classroom's 1:1 educational aides, district-provided support services (OT, PT, SLP), and Stepping Stones' Educational Services Director and administrative staff to provide a positive learning experience and promote progress towards each student's IEP goals. The ideal candidate is someone with a passion for working with people with developmental disabilities, a leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task and adapt to the needs of a classroom. The ideal candidate also is a licensed intervention specialist in Ohio, has experience working with people with moderate to intense disabilities, and understands how to effectively implement and coach others on the use of positive behavioral interventions. Annual Salary -$50,000, commensurate with experience.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Communicate professionally and effectively with school districts, related service providers, educational aides, and parents. Plan meaningful and age-appropriate lessons that meet student IEP goals and are aligned with the Ohio Extended Learning Standards. Be willing to quickly adapt and effectively lead a group of staff based on the needs of students and the situations that arise throughout the day. Maintain complete confidentiality of all documents and personal information. Work with the Educational Services Director and the IEP team to develop Individual Education Plans, Behavioral Plans, and Functional Behavior Assessments as necessary. Ensure timely progress monitoring and reporting on student IEP goals and objectives. Demonstrate a collaborative relationship with educational aides through modeling, supervision, and constructive feedback. Provide behavior de-escalation, intervention, and support as needed. Work with the Educational Services Director to maintain classroom supplies and materials needed within the program budget. Fill in as needed for Educational Aides. Carry out other instructions which are consistent with the general responsibilities of the position. Other items as assigned by the Education Service Director.Deliverables:
Complete IEP's for all students by deadline assigned. Complete monthly progress reports for students. Conduct alternative assessments on all assigned students. Complete initial and yearly evaluations on educational aides. Complete frequent program monitoring of students.Qualifications:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related subject. Current K-12 Ohio Intervention Specialist License - Moderate/Intensive. Excellent attention to detail, and strong time management and organizational skills. Trained in CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention), CPR/First Aid, or willing to be trained. About the Step-Up Alternative Education Program This unique program partners with multiple Greater Cincinnati public schools to provide an alternative education program for students who have been unable to succeed in a typical classroom setting. Stepping outside of their home district, students of Step Up continue their studies at our 23-acre Given Road Campus in Indian Hill. Utilizing our non-traditional, outdoor-focused education setting, Step-Up students receive the tools they need to successfully navigate academic studies, learn self-regulation skills, develop vocational skills through authentic experiences to enable them to transition into adulthood and more fully participate in their community. The Step-Up program operates 3-4 classrooms of up to eight students each, with most students utilizing 1:1 aides along with classroom teachers to engage in academic, communication, and functional living skill instruction.Pay:
