A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description
Responsibilities:
Design and deliver tailored lesson plans incorporating special education principles, IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals, and instructional modifications to support students with disabilities. Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, parents, and support staff to develop comprehensive educational plans that promote student success across academic and behavioral domains. Implement evidence-based behavioral management strategies. Integrate learning technology tools and educational software to create engaging lessons in core subjects. Conduct assessments using standardized testing and observational techniques to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, IEP compliance, behavioral interventions, and classroom activities in accordance with educational regulations.Requirements:
Prior classroom experience working with students with disabilities in school settings is essential.
