Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher within a supportive, self-contained classroom designed for students with significant behavioral and mental health needs. This blended class comprises both middle and high school students, providing a dynamic and impactful environment where specialized instruction and social-emotional growth go hand in hand. Enjoy a consistent weekday schedule, working Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm, allowing you to make a meaningful difference each day in the lives of your students. You'll collaborate closely with a dedicated professional focused on implementing social-emotional programs, and have the support of experienced paraeducators. Paras float throughout the day and may be assigned for 1:1 assistance according to specific student IEPs, ensuring you have the resources to deliver individualized support.
Key Qualifications:
Current teaching certification in Special Education Experience teaching students with significant behavioral and mental health challenges Proficiency creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) Strong classroom management and de-escalation techniques Ability to foster social and emotional growth alongside academic instruction Collaborative mindset for working with colleagues, paraeducators, and support personnel Committed to five days on-site per week
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction to a diverse, blended-age classroom Adapt lessons and interventions to meet a wide spectrum of learning and behavioral needs Implement and monitor IEPs, collaborating with paras and program partners Integrate social-emotional learning strategies into daily activities Utilize positive behavioral supports and intervention plans Communicate regularly with families and interdisciplinary team members Discover a fulfilling role where your expertise matters and your compassion creates lasting change.
