A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description
POSITION
: One-on-One AidesQUALIFICATIONS
:Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Valid Educational Aide permit with ESEA Endorsement. Experience working with Special Needs children preferred. Must have or be willing to complete appropriate training including Crisis Prevention Training. Experience working with children in a classroom or educational setting is strongly preferred. Knowledge of classroom instructional strategies, child development, and learning styles. Ability to work effectively with students of varying abilities and backgrounds. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills. Ability to motivate and engage students. Patience, flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude toward student learning and development. Work directly with a designated student to provide academic, behavioral, and social support. Willingness to assist with special circumstances for students with medical needs Demonstrate professionalism and the ability to work effectively with staff, students, and the administration. Adhere to Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
