Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Inspire young learners and make a meaningful impact by supporting elementary students as a dedicated Intervention Specialist. This full-time, in-person contract position offers the chance to work in a self-contained classroom, providing direct and push-in instructional support for students with multiple disabilities (MD) in 1st through 3rd grade, with a few 4th graders. Serve a class of up to 8 students, tailoring your teaching approach to empower each child's strengths while fostering an inclusive, supportive environment.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Current licensure as a Special Education Teacher or eligibility to obtain Experience working in self-contained or MD classrooms, preferably at the elementary level Strong understanding of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and ability to implement them effectively Excellent classroom management and differentiation skills Collaborative approach with teachers, therapists, and families Compassion, patience, and adaptability to meet diverse student needs
Core Responsibilities:
Design and deliver individualized instruction using best practices for special education Implement and monitor IEP objectives and progress for each student Provide both self-contained instruction and push-in support to general education classrooms as needed Develop a safe, positive, and engaging classroom atmosphere Collect and maintain student data to inform instruction and IEP decisions Communicate regularly with team members, therapists, and caregivers This role offers a unique opportunity to support students' academic, social-emotional, and functional growth in a small classroom setting, allowing for meaningful relationships and collaborative problem-solving.
