Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity working with a dedicated team supporting students with significant behavioral and mental health needs. This full-time position is ideal for a special education professional with experience in a self-contained classroom setting. You'll make an impact each day by helping middle and high school students reach their potential in a blended class environment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, with a requirement to be on-site five days per week. Partner closely with a classroom teacher and a social-emotional program specialist to implement specialized supports, and coordinate with paraprofessionals who provide targeted assistance according to individual education plans.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid Special Education licensure or certification Experience working with students who have severe behavioral and mental health challenges Background in self-contained or similar classrooms strongly preferred Familiarity with middle and high school age groups in special education settings Comfort collaborating with multidisciplinary teams Effective communication and problem-solving skills
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and deliver instruction in a blended self-contained class for students with complex needs Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) addressing academic, emotional, and behavioral goals Work collaboratively with a social-emotional support program and other specialized staff Adapt strategies and materials to foster student engagement and learning Maintain a structured, supportive classroom environment Coordinate with paraprofessionals, sometimes providing oversight for 1:1 support as needed for specific students This role is vital for making a positive difference in students' lives by addressing their unique educational and emotional needs.
