SUMMARY:
A Teacher I is responsible for the seamless transition of Lead Teachers and Aids during classroom breaks and lunches. Provides assistance and support for the teaching staff in the daily activities of the Christian-based classroom and must initiate and foster positive guidance and behavior management practices for children. The function of this position is to assume the role and function of the person being relieved. Must be able to engage and effectively communicate with parents/guardians, volunteers, and other staff members. This position requires high stamina and the physical ability to interact with young children.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide support in all areas of the classroom, maintaining a clean, safe and cheerful environment Supervise and help train Level I and II Aide's in classroom routines and regulations Substitute when necessary Assist with the implementation of the pre-selected academic and biblical curriculums of Blossom Hills Supervise students in class, gym, playground and other areas Lead and/or assist with the instruction of students Assist children with bathroom skills or diapering Assist in the supervision of students in class, gym, playground and other areas as directed Respect confidential information at all times Attend staff meetings, special events and in-service trainings See that Blossom Hills and Oregon Child Care Division policies are observed at all times Model personal behaviors of honesty, fairness, courtesy, consideration and Christian fellowship Establishes and maintains positive and professional relationships with students, employees and families Respond in a cooperative and positive manner to supervision and direction Maintain each classroom's routines and discipline procedures. Maintain all licenses and certificate requirements needed to maintain your professional standing Achieves professional growth as required by Oregon Child Care Division and Blossom Hills through approved workshops and classes Be alert and aware to all children, classroom activities, physical environment, and potential safety hazards at all times. EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
Completion of 20 semester credits or 30 quarter credits in Early Ed, Child Dev. OR A one year state or nationally recognized credential (CDA) OR Documentation of attaining at least step 6 in the Oregon Registry if no experience OR At least 750 working hours of qualified teaching experience in a Certified Child Care Center AND Required to obtain Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect Certificate, 1st Aid/CPR and Food Handler's License within 90 days of hire AND Required to maintain 15 hours of annual continuing education AND If coming in with only experience and no Step, must be willing to work on obtaining a Step 5 on ORO within 3 months of hire

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
