Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role supporting students with special needs as a Special Education Teacher in a vibrant, supportive school environment. Multiple full-time contract positions are available for accomplished educators ready to make a real difference, working onsite with elementary and middle school students through June 2026. With a variety of classroom settings—including Developmental, Behavioral, and Resource-focused roles—you'll collaborate with dedicated assistants and contribute to a team of passionate professionals.
Current opportunities include:
Elementary Developmental classrooms (2 roles): Serve 15 students with behavioral, ASD, and communication needs, supported by 6 skilled assistants.
Elementary Behavior classroom:
Support 3rd-5th graders in a dynamic setting with 16 students and 5 assistants.
Middle School Resource:
Guide 40 students with the help of 2 shared assistants. Elementary Resource (2 locations): Impact 35 students between two nearby sites, each with a dedicated assistant.
Middle School Behavior:
Lead a classroom of 15 students alongside 5 assistants.
Qualifications:
Active Special Education (SPED) certification/license in Oregon required Previous school-based SPED teaching experience preferred Ability to provide a supervisor reference from your most recent position Strong classroom management and collaborative skills Key responsibilities: Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Adapt instruction to address students' unique behavioral, developmental, or communication needs Track and report student progress, maintaining accurate records Foster a nurturing, inclusive classroom climate Collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, classroom assistants, and interdisciplinary teams This position offers the chance to work full-time hours—37.5 per week—in an impactful role where you can see your influence on student growth each day.
