A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description

The Summit Academy is looking for motivated, loyal, and hard-working individuals to educate, counsel, and serve as positive role models for our students. Candidates should possess and demonstrate confidence in their ability to influence and modify inappropriate behavior while developing positive, productive relationships with youth. Job Requirements Interested candidates must possess: Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Professional Teaching Certificate in Special Education or be eligible to obtain private academic certification Valid driver's license Child Abuse, Criminal History, and medical clearances Don't currently hold a Pennsylvania teaching certificate? The Summit Academy has the ability to privately certify qualified candidates, allowing individuals who meet the necessary educational requirements to pursue certification while working with us. Compensation & Benefits Starting salary: $50,000 An excellent benefits package is offered after three months of employment, including: Health insurance Dental insurance Vision benefits Prescription plan Complimentary meals Complimentary on-site parking An excellent benefits package is offered after 3 months of employment including health, dental, vision, and a prescription plan. In addition to our benefits package, complimentary meals and parking are included. Starting salary recently increased to $50,000!
