Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a role where you will make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic, supportive school environment. This full-time, onsite contract opportunity features five available positions: four at the elementary level and one at the middle school level. The assignment runs from August 24, 2026, through June 10, 2027, with a consistent 35-hour work week.
Qualifications & Experience:
Active teaching certification/licensure required for this caseload Bachelor's degree required (mandatory for emergency teaching permit) Previous experience in a school setting is essential Strong classroom and behavioral management abilities Demonstrated ability to design and deliver lesson plans aligned with current state and district standards Experience working in an urban educational setting Capacity to create differentiated instruction informed by continual formative assessment Ability to complete all Pennsylvania clearances prior to the start date Reliable transportation is necessary Comfortable navigating district and location requirements Must be available to work onsite from 8:30AM to 4PM without schedule accommodations
Key Responsibilities:
Demonstrate mastery of special education subject matter and instructional strategies Develop and implement effective, standards-aligned lesson plans and classroom resources Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom culture Adapt instruction to individual student needs and monitor progress Maintain consistent communication with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams Support students' academic and behavioral growth, applying strong classroom management skills This engaging role offers the chance to work directly with students who thrive with dedicated support and innovative teaching strategies.
