Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference every day by supporting students in a dynamic educational setting as a Special Education Teacher. This contract position extends through late May 2027 and involves guiding students in Autistic Support classrooms, where dedicated PCA support is available. You'll be based at a well-resourced learning center, working alongside passionate colleagues to nurture student growth and success.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate is required Experience or educational background in Special Education Ability to engage and motivate students in Autistic Support environments Skilled in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Collaborative mindset for working with paraprofessionals and support staff Strong communication and organizational abilities Commitment to ongoing professional development
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead instruction in Autistic Support classrooms with support from PCAs Develop, adapt, and evaluate lesson plans and instructional materials Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including therapists, administrators, and families Monitor student progress, document outcomes, and adjust strategies as needed Participate in IEP meetings and fulfill special education compliance requirements Uphold all school, state, and federal guidelines related to special education
