A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. Job Overview Class would be in session Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9am to 11:30am with additional prep hours included in your contract. 7.5 per week with students and 3.5 hours of paid prep! Plan and execute engaging lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards and promote active learning experiences. Foster strong communication with parents and guardians through regular updates on children's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones. Ensure safety protocols are followed diligently, including first aid and CPR procedures, mandated reporting laws, and child welfare policies. Manage classroom routines effectively to support smooth transitions, nap times, meals, and structured activities. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, classroom management strategies, and special education accommodations when needed. Requirements Proven experience working with children in early childhood settings such as daycare centers or preschools. Strong knowledge of child development principles specific to 3-year-olds and early intervention strategies. Experience with curriculum development, literacy education, math instruction, and physical education for young children. Ability to manage classroom behavior positively while fostering social skills and emotional regulation. Excellent communication skills for parent engagement and team collaboration. Certification in first aid and CPR is required; ongoing professional development in childhood education preferred but not required. Familiarity with mandated reporting laws and child welfare practices is essential. Demonstrated ability to plan lessons effectively using standardized testing results when applicable. Knowledge of preschool teaching methods, classroom management techniques, and early childhood education standards.
