Part-time, paid About Ignite Dance Company Ignite Dance Company is a competitive and recreational dance studio built by dancers, for dancers. We believe ballet is the foundation beneath every strong dancer, and we take that foundation seriously—without losing the energy, connection, and confidence that make students love performing. Our culture is grounded in four principles: technique first, heart over ego, no bystanders, and genuine community. We are building dancers who work hard, perform boldly, support one another, and cannot be ignored. Learn more about Ignite's philosophy. The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Ballet & Pointe Instructor to teach dancers ages 5-18 across our recreational and competitive programs. The right instructor combines high technical standards with a warm, confident classroom presence. You should be able to challenge serious dancers, encourage developing students, and create an environment where discipline and support go hand in hand. This is an opportunity to help shape a growing studio from the beginning and make a meaningful impact on dancers training for recreational performances, competitions, and potential collegiate or professional paths. What You'll Do Teach approximately 3-10 ballet and pointe classes per week, primarily during evenings and Saturdays. Develop progressive, age-appropriate ballet curricula for dancers at multiple experience levels. Teach proper alignment, placement, musicality, terminology, strength, and classical technique. Evaluate dancers' physical and technical readiness for pointe and guide that transition responsibly. Prepare dancers for the demands of Ignite's recreational and competition programs. Choreograph ballet pieces for the annual recital and selected competition routines. Provide clear, constructive feedback that builds both technical ability and confidence. Maintain a structured classroom that is disciplined, encouraging, and engaging. Collaborate with Ignite's owner/director and faculty on competitive-dancer training plans. Communicate professionally and reliably with studio leadership, dancers, and families. Model Ignite's culture of hard work, humility, accountability, and team support. What We're Looking For Significant classical ballet training; a pre-professional or professional background is preferred. Previous experience teaching ballet to children and teens in a studio, school, or conservatory setting. Method-based teaching experience in Vaganova, Cecchetti, RAD, ABT National Training Curriculum, or an equivalent system. Pointe-teaching experience and a clear, safety-focused philosophy regarding pointe readiness. Strong knowledge of ballet technique, terminology, musicality, and injury-conscious instruction. The ability to teach dancers across multiple ages and skill levels. A classroom presence that is firm, warm, organized, and motivating. Choreography and recital or competition experience. Dependability, punctuality, professionalism, and strong communication skills. A genuine interest in contributing to a collaborative, growing studio community. Preferred Qualifications Ballet or pointe teaching certification. Experience working with competitive dancers. Experience preparing dancers for auditions, collegiate programs, or professional training. Familiarity with conditioning, cross-training, or injury-prevention principles. Experience supporting dancers with different learning styles or educational needs. Why Join Ignite? At Ignite, ballet is not an afterthought—it is the technical foundation beneath everything we do. You'll join a faculty of working artists and experienced educators who care about delivering serious training while building confident, grounded young people. Our recreational dancers receive meaningful technical instruction, while our audition-only competition team trains for regional and national stages. We are looking for someone who wants to help build both programs and become an important part of the Ignite community. Explore our programs and competition team.
