A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description
Key Qualifications:
- Current Pennsylvania (PA) Teaching Certificate required
- Previous experience in Special Education settings preferred
- Familiarity with working in Autistic Support classrooms is highly desirable
- Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals and school staff
- Strong communication skills to foster a positive learning environment
- Patience, empathy, and enthusiasm for supporting diverse learners
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and interventions in Autistic Support classrooms
- Adapt lesson plans and instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs
- Coordinate and communicate with classroom PCAs (Paraprofessional Care Assistants) for enhanced student support
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
- Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with families and staff
