Mentoring Relationships Change Lives. Through one-to-one mentoring, BBBS Lone Star is dedicated to ensuring every child reaches their full potential. Our program specifically was built to ensure that all youth, regardless of background, have a plan after high school and the social capital to make it a reality. The program has already had a measurable impact on local youth- over 97% of mentees in the program enrolled in higher education, were employed or enlisted in the military upon graduation.
Position Summary:
The Match Support Specialist (Site-Based) will provide regular case management support to match participants to ensure longer and stronger match relationships. Conduct match introductions to launch new match relationships. Facilitate and support group meetings between Mentees and Mentors at designated sites (corporate, school etc.).Essential Functions, Responsibilities, and Activities:
MATCH SUPPORT
- Maintain a caseload of Community and/or School Based matches as assigned and provide match support and relationship development as defined in the Program Manual
- Contact Mentors, parents and Mentees according to agency standards based on length of Match to: ▪ Provide both on-going risk management and support for the longevity of the Match ▪ Discuss Match activities, personal safety reminders, and goal accomplishments ▪ Make assessments of individual training needs, information, and support needs for each participant; and ▪ Share information about agency activities•Attend Match activities as assigned, seeking opportunities to make meaningful in•person contacts with Matches•Conduct Match introductions and Match closures according to BBBSA and agency standards•Write and input comprehensive assessment notes within agency database regarding case management discussions according to BBBSA and agency timeframes and standards for every touch point with a Match participant.
- Become familiar with community resources for client information/referral and sharing knowledge and information with staff members as appropriate
- Attend and participate in all team, staff and program meetings
- Assist with agency program events as needed
- Maintain state licensure, when applicable
- Other duties as assigned
SCHOOL / SITE-BASED PROGRAMS
In addition to the responsibilities listed above:- Lead bi-monthly program sessions for groups of Matches, during which Mentees spend time with Mentors under BBBS supervision at corporate sites or schools, with activities and other educational and relationship-building exercises on a one-on-one basis.
- Organize and coordinate logistics between corporate and school leadership, which include activities, scheduling, catering, and transportation.
- Track and share data with leadership and partners to share the impact of mentoring, including strength of match relationships, youth academics/conduct, photos of Match activities, and testimonials from Matches.
- Develop and manage relationships with school and corporate leaders and liaisons.
- Lead orientations for Mentors.
- Assist during enrollment, including interviewing future and current Mentees.
- Proactively assist relationships through regular communication, support and advice; identify Matches who need additional support; and implement strategies to improve relationships.
- Support all aspects of site-based program implementation Qualifications Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a social or human science, such as social work, sociology, psychology, or education One year experience in a social service or teaching field preferred Prior experience with intake and assessment of adults and/or youth preferred Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel with at least 45 words per minute, error free Bilingual English/Spanish fluency preferred.
