POSITION GOAL

To work diligently and conscientiously in the role of instructional personnel to help students meet or exceed annual learning goals, to meet state and local achievement requirements, and to master the skills required to graduate from high school prepared for postsecondary education and career.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

1.

• Help students master challenging standards and meet all state and local requirements for achievement. 2.
• Teach diligently and conscientiously, using prescribed materials and methods, including technology-based instruction. 3.
• Keep records and prepare and submit reports required by law, the school board, and/ or the principal/ administrator. 4.
• Perform those duties that are necessary for the diligent and conscientious instruction of students. 5.
• Learn and use digital communication tools, in addition to the use of current Apex courses and virtual platform. 6.
• Attend staff meetings and in-service training as needed for job enhancement.

7. Teachers may work remotely or report to district site according to an established schedule, as per the Coordinator of Online Learning. 8. Limited travel required to live sessions or small group instruction with students. 9. Teachers working remotely, as per assigned schedule by Coordinator, are responsible for providing own Internet access and related fees. 10. Establish a daily schedule, commensurate with the current contract, which includes evening office hours. 11. Host live sessions for intervention or enrichment, as necessary. 12. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Coordinator, Online Learning which are not in conflict with law, policy or the contract. Denotes essential job function/

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in an educational field or the equivalent Hold or is eligible to hold a valid Florida Educator Certificate in Elementary Education or two core academic content areas (English, math, science, or social studies).

REQUIRED SKILLS

Demonstrates competence in the prerequisite technology skills to teach online: Word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, and some familiarity with a Learning Management System Internet browsers, email applications and appropriate online etiquette Demonstrates competence or ability to learn synchronous and asynchronous communication tools (e.g. discussion boards, chat tools, webinars, etc.) Ability to arrange media and content to help students and teachers transfer knowledge most effectively in the online environment Demonstrates excellent writing and verbal skills Demonstrates competence in planning, designing and incorporating strategies to encourage active learning, interaction, participation and collaboration in the online environment Ability to provide online leadership in a manner that promotes student success through regular feedback, prompt response and clear expectations Ability to model, guide and encourage legal, ethical, safe and healthy behavior related to technology use Ability to understand and be responsive to students with special needs in the online classroom Demonstrates competence in using data and findings from assessments and other data sources to modify instructional methods and to guide student learning Ability to collaborate with colleagues Demonstrates competence in human and interpersonal relations skills Ability to attend staff meetings and in-service training as needed
