School Calendar Hours About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced and passionate Virtual Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher to support K-12 students in a fully remote educational environment. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to helping students with diverse learning needs achieve academic success through individualized instruction, collaboration, and innovative virtual teaching strategies. This position requires a professional who has demonstrated success in virtual instruction outside of the COVID-era transition period and understands how to effectively engage students in an online learning environment. Responsibilities Provide direct virtual instruction and specialized academic support to students with disabilities in grades K-12. Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Conduct virtual EC services in accordance with federal, state, and district guidelines. Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, related service providers, and school administrators. Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation and compliance records. Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet individual student needs. Facilitate virtual meetings, IEP conferences, and parent communication. Utilize educational technology platforms to deliver engaging and effective instruction. Support students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs in a remote setting. Required Qualifications Current North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) licensure in Exceptional Children (EC) K-12. Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Exceptional Children, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years of virtual teaching experience acquired outside of the
COVID-19
emergency remote learning period. Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance. Experience providing virtual instruction to students with disabilities across K-12 grade levels. Proficiency with virtual learning platforms, online documentation systems, and educational technology tools. Excellent communication, organization, and case management skills. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Special Education or related field. Experience with online schools, virtual academies, cyber charter schools, or remote educational programs. Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Specific Learning Disabilities, Emotional Disabilities, and Other Health Impairments. Familiarity with North Carolina special education regulations and compliance requirements. Candidates whose virtual teaching experience is limited to COVID-era emergency instruction will not be considered. We are specifically seeking educators with substantial experience delivering intentional, structured online instruction in established virtual learning settings.
