Position Overview:
The Central Falls School District seeks a talented, innovative and caring Special Educator to fill a full-time math position. The ideal candidate is one with a deep passion for instruction and eager to create an exciting and engaging learning environment where every student reaches his/her potential. The special education teacher is responsible for supporting the academic and social/emotional growth for all students with the overarching goal of preparedness for college/career and life skills. Special Educator, with the guidance and support from Director of Student Service meets all special education regulations, utilizes relevant data, and provides opportunities for students to self-advocate for their unique interests, needs, and life goals.
General Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsible for implementing and delivery of a Math Curriculum in alignment with the Common Core Standards including but not limited to embedding strategies to support all students including English Learners. Able to create language and content objectives by implementing a curriculum, teaching and learning standards and practices that align with Common Core Standards and embedded with WIDA Essentials. Develop and implement classroom and curricular accommodations and modifications for all students, including language development adaptations for ELLs. Incorporates ELLs backgrounds and experiences to improving performance by using a variety of techniques to ensure content concepts are comprehensible Ability to accommodate the needs of students in various educational environments as indicated per IEP. Maintain a positive learning environment that promotes academic, social and personal well-being of all students. Assess progress, maintain documentation, analyze and share data and monitor student learning/progress as specified in the plan (RtI, 504, Service, IEP, etc). Coordinate and implement service delivery, evaluations, assessments, progress reports and timelines with general educators, related services providers, support staff, other special educators and building administrators to meet student's IEP. Collaborate with students, families, and educational team to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with Federal and State Regulations. Develop and implement classroom and curricular accommodations and modifications for students, including language development adaptations for ELLs. Utilize instructional materials that coordinate with district curricula to implement instruction that addresses students' goals and language needs while providing access to grade-level content. Maintain and use adaptive / assistive technology as needed. Follow all RIDE regulations related to ELL Students with Disabilities, including determining if ELLs with disabilities are eligible to continue as ELL or to exit from their ELL status and completing and distributing all related paperwork. Establish two-way communication to engage parents/guardians as critical partners before, during and after the team process. Cooperatively plan and teach with other educators. Assess progress, maintain documentation, monitor student learning/progress and report as specified in the plan (RtI, 504, Service, IEP, etc). Communicate with families regularly to discuss student performance, attendance, progress, etc. via phone calls, emails, written correspondence. Anything deemed necessary by the building administrator or Director / Assistant Director of Student Services.
