Day Responsibilities:

• The role includes taking over the classroom in the absence of the teacher. (Sometimes a split schedule across classrooms over the course of the day).
• Assists student(s) in all areas of instruction including daily routines, academics, specials, and any other appropriate classroom and school activity.
• Providing support as well as positive reinforcement for achieving specific goals.
• Support with implementing de-escalation strategies as needed and communicating progress with team.
• Assisting with arrival/dismissal/lunch/recess duties as needed, classroom observations and/or support with general projects when coverage isn't needed.
• Other needed duties to support the success of your students and our school (no more than 5% of your role).

Minimum Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates need a minimum of an associate degree or two years completed toward a 4-year degree and must be U.S. citizen or resident or have work visas. In addition, they must demonstrate:

• Strong teaching abilities, especially with middle-grades students.

In addition, we're looking for individuals who are skilled in communicating with students and tailoring their teaching approach to the needs of their learners. Lastly, middle-grades students are masters at pushing boundaries and asserting and advocating for their needs. The right candidate is able to be a warm demander: to build deep and trusting relationships with students, while creating accountability for how they show up and take ownership of their own learning.

Salary, Benefits and Other Details:

Workday. This position is a per diem, guest teacher of record role based at the Learning Community Charter School in Central Falls, Rhode Island. All staff are expected to work 7:45-3:15 pm Salary. For this role, compensation is $22.86 per hour. (This is a part-time role, candidate is expected to work 2-4 days each week). Does not include paid vacation time. Eligible for benefits at 75% employee contribution)
