Job Description

Step into a valued role supporting elementary students as a long-term Special Education Teacher substitute this fall. This full-time contract position spans from mid-September through December, covering a maternity leave within a third-grade classroom. Located near Portsmouth, RI, youll work Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, providing impactful instruction and individualized support for young learners. Ideal qualifications and experience for this opportunity include: Active Rhode Island Special Education Teacher Certification Experience or strong interest in working with elementary-age students Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, support staff, and families Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment Reliability and professionalism to fulfill the full duration of the assignment Key responsibilities: Deliver specialized instruction to meet students Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Modify curriculum and teaching methods to address diverse learning needs Partner with general education teachers and paraprofessionals for cohesive support Monitor, assess, and document student progress regularly Communicate proactively with caregivers and school staff Uphold all district, state, and federal regulations regarding special education This placement offers the rewarding chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of third-grade students during a critical time.
