Job Description

Special Education Teacher Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 8:15 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; Tuesdays until 4:15 p.m. TriSource Staffing is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher for an immediate, full-time contract-to-hire opportunity at a specialized year-round school in Providence. The teacher will lead a small, highly supported classroom serving students ages 13-19 with specialized educational and behavioral needs. Classroom Details Approximately nine students per class Students are between 13 and 19 years old Strong classroom support, including Behavior Specialists Collaboration with a BCBA, Occupational Therapist, Speech-Language Pathologist, coordinators, and other members of the interdisciplinary team Responsibilities Oversee the classroom's educational and programmatic needs Manage daily classroom operations and coordinate classroom support staff Develop, implement, and monitor students' IEPs Ensure IEP goals are addressed throughout the school day Monitor students' academic and behavioral progress Implement individualized Behavior Support Plans Create meaningful weekly Community Learning Experiences aligned with students' goals and transition outcomes Maintain required classroom documentation and program binders Collaborate with families, Behavior Specialists, related service providers, and the interdisciplinary team Foster a structured, supportive environment that promotes communication, independence, learning, and positive behavior Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field required Master's degree preferred but not required Rhode Island Department of Education Level 2 Severe and Profound Special Education certification preferred Candidates with Level 1 certification or without current RIDE certification may be considered if willing to complete the required certification process with the school's assistance At least one year of experience as a Special Education Teacher or in a similar role supporting students with disabilities required The ideal candidate will be compassionate, patient, kind, flexible, dependable, punctual, and genuinely committed to helping students with special needs succeed.
