Job Description

This full-time position is designed for an experienced Special Education Teacher passionate about working with elementary-aged students with severe and profound intellectual disabilities. Located near Wood River Junction, RI, this role focuses on making a meaningful impact in one school for the duration of the academic year, with a start date as soon as possible and running through the end of the school year.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Valid RI Department of Education certification as an All Grades Special Education - Severe Intellectual Disabilities Teacher Proven experience supporting students with severe or profound disabilities—elementary level preferred Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation Ability to collaborate effectively with school staff and related service providers Excellent communication and organizational skills Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored instruction and interventions to meet the needs of students with significant intellectual disabilities Develop, implement, and review Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Track student progress and regularly update documentation in compliance with district and state requirements Work closely with families, support staff, and other educators to develop comprehensive support plans Adapt curriculum and learning materials for diverse learner needs
