Desired qualifications and skills:

Active Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license for the appropriate grade band (Secondary). Commitment to compliance with the Right to Read Act, including certification in Structured Literacy proficiency within one year of hire (or current certification). Experience supporting students with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or severe behavioral needs. Familiarity with developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Ability to foster a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Key responsibilities:

Design and deliver individualized instruction to high school students within a self-contained or sub-separate classroom. Implement evidence-based strategies for students with EBD or severe behavioral challenges. Regularly assess and document student progress toward IEP goals. Develop behavioral intervention plans in partnership with related service providers and families. Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school initiatives to support student growth and school community.
