Starting at $50/hour (dependent on experience) Position Overview Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support students in a self-contained K2 classroom serving students with moderate disabilities in Chester, South Carolina. This opportunity is ideal for an educator who is passionate about providing individualized instruction, creating a structured and supportive classroom environment, and helping young students develop academically, socially, behaviorally, and independently. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) . Provide individualized and differentiated instruction based on student needs and IEP goals. Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, accommodations, and assessments to support student learning. Provide instruction in a self-contained classroom setting . Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation and progress reports. Implement positive behavior supports and effective classroom management strategies. Support students with moderate disabilities across academic, behavioral, social, and developmental areas. Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, administrators, families, and related service providers. Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development activities. Foster a structured, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment. Promote student independence and participation in classroom and school activities. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district special education requirements. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field preferred. Active South Carolina Special Education certification required or eligibility to obtain certification. Experience working in a self-contained special education classroom preferred. Experience supporting students with moderate disabilities is a plus. Experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly K2, preferred. Strong classroom management and behavior support skills. Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Ability to develop and implement effective IEP-based instruction. Work Environment Full-time, school-based position in Chester, South Carolina .
