Key Qualifications:

Valid, active South Carolina certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (VI Certs required) Previous experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments strongly preferred Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment Ability to collaborate effectively with fellow educators, related service providers, and families

Core Responsibilities:

Provide specialized instruction to students who are visually impaired, adapting curriculum and materials to individual needs Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in coordination with multidisciplinary teams Offer direct and consultative support to students, teachers, and staff regarding best practices and accessibility Monitor student progress, assess learning, and adjust strategies as needed Participate in professional development and stay current on trends and techniques related to visual impairment education Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines for special education services
