A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting elementary and pre-kindergarten students with special needs in a nurturing, well-resourced school environment. Two positions are available for Special Education professionals who are passionate about making a tangible difference. Collaborate onsite alongside dedicated paraprofessionals, fostering growth for students in self-contained classrooms. You'll work with: K-2nd grade students in an elementary autism setting (self-contained) PreK students in a self-contained developmental classroom
Key Qualifications:
Hold or be eligible for a valid Special Education license (including emergency or pending certification) Open to candidates enrolled in Teach for America, ITeach, or similar certification programs Experience in autism support or PreK special education settings is highly valued Able to commit to onsite instruction for the duration of the contract Strong communication, collaboration, and adaptability skills
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized instruction and create engaging lesson plans for students with diverse learning needs Collaborate with paraprofessionals and other support staff to maintain an optimal classroom environment Meet students' social, emotional, and academic objectives through targeted intervention strategies Prepare IEPs, monitor student progress, and participate in team meetings as needed Foster meaningful family engagement and work closely with colleagues for student success You'll join a welcoming educational community where your expertise is respected and your passion for student achievement is at the heart of the work.
