A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description

Easterseals South Carolina is looking to hire for a part-time position with potential to be full-time Early Intervention Family Trainer position in Sumter, SC . The Family Trainer provides special instruction on behalf of parents/caregivers and their children with developmental delays and/or special needs. If you are a dedicated professional looking for a rewarding career with great benefits, we are looking for you! Business hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8:30am
  • 5:00 pm This is a Part-time position with potential to be full-time.
Daily travel is required for direct service delivery with caregivers in the client's home/daycare/community. This is NOT a remote position. Responsibilities and Duties Educate and coach families on effective strategies to help their child reach developmental milestones and improve daily routines. Assist the family in understanding the special needs and development of their child. Engage in Family Training with the caregiver and child in their home or daycare setting.
Benefits:
Training pay rate: $30.00 per hour for the first 90 days.
Pay Rates after training:
$30.00 per billable hour, $12.00 per nonbillable hour, $7.25 travel rate per hour. Extensive Travel Required

Qualifications:
Minimum of an approved Bachelor's degree or higher in the following: Child/Human Development, Education, Early Childhood, Special Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Elementary Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, or Sociology. Minimum 1-year experience working with children ages 0
  • 5 years.
CPR certification required.
