Key Qualifications and Experience:

Valid South Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (VI) certification Previous experience supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting preferred Ability to develop and adapt instructional materials to meet diverse student needs Comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff Strong commitment to fostering independence and confidence in learners Effective communication and documentation skills

Responsibilities:

Deliver specialized instruction to visually impaired students onsite, 3-4 days each week Assess students' unique needs and design individualized education plans (IEPs) Adapt curriculum, materials, and classroom environments as needed Support students in developing crucial skills for classroom engagement and life outside of school Consult regularly with teachers, families, and service providers Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings and progress reviews This role offers 22.5-30 hours per week, providing the flexibility to balance meaningful work with personal commitments—all within a supportive and collaborative school climate.
