This is an excellent opportunity for a Special Education Teacher with a passion for empowering students with mild intellectual disabilities. You'll focus on one school, working full-time during the school year in a supportive, collaborative setting near West Columbia, SC.
Key Qualifications:
Active South Carolina Special Education (SPED) teaching license required Previous experience working with middle school students, especially those with mild intellectual disabilities Strong communication skills to collaborate with staff, families, and students Ability to create and implement IEPs and adapt instructional strategies to meet individual needs Professionalism and adaptability within a diverse, inclusive school community
What You'll Do:
Provide specialized instruction to middle school students with mild intellectual disabilities Develop and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team Build supportive relationships with students to encourage social, emotional, and academic growth Maintain accurate records and ongoing communication with families and school staff Participate in professional development opportunities provided onsite Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages confidence and growth
