Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. If you are an experienced Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) with a genuine passion for empowering learners, this full-time role could be your next rewarding move. There is flexibility for part-time work, and experienced virtual professionals are encouraged—candidates for virtual assignments must have at least five years of successful remote TVI experience. Your expertise will benefit K-12+ students, with caseloads thoughtfully balanced between elementary, middle, and high school assignments. The role is itinerant in nature, involving travel between nearby schools, all within efficiently mapped routes to minimize commute time. Academic environments will range from general education classrooms to specialized settings supporting students with complex, multiple disabilities. To excel, you should bring the following: Active Department of Education certification Solid background in Braille instruction and implementation Proficiency in assistive technology, with bonus points for familiarity with the Federal Quota program Experience handling IEP processes and documentation, ideally using platforms like TN Pulse Ability to facilitate student learning through district-issued Chromebooks Prompt completion of fingerprint and credentialing requirements Core responsibilities include: Delivering direct and consultative TVI services Collaborating on and participating in IEP team meetings Supporting the academic and functional needs of students in both inclusive and specialized settings Traveling between assigned school sites within the district Employing best practices for both in-person and virtual instruction Advance your career and help learners thrive in an environment where your technical knowledge and passion for service are truly valued.
