Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Seeking an experienced Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to support students in a school setting in Chattanooga, TN. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with hearing impairments by providing specialized instruction and support tailored to their unique needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing Utilize specialized teaching methods and technologies to facilitate effective communication and learning Collaborate with classroom teachers, audiologists, speech therapists, and families to support students' academic progress and social development Monitor and assess student performance, adjusting instructional strategies as needed Advocate for the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students within the school community
Qualifications:
Valid teaching licensure with certification or endorsement in Deaf Education or Hearing Impairments Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting Strong communication and collaboration skills Knowledge of assistive listening devices, sign language, and other relevant technologies Ability to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
