This full-time contract role centers on serving K-12+ learners across multiple schools, with travel thoughtfully assigned to minimize your commute. With these key positions being vacant the previous school year, your impact will be immediate and significant, empowering students to achieve their fullest potential.
Desired qualifications and experience:
Active DOE certification required Experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), with a strong background in K-12 settings Proficient in Braille instruction and assistive technology for visually impaired students Familiarity with accessing assistive technology through the Federal Quota program is a plus Able to support both general education and students with multiple disabilities in special classrooms Expertise in IEP processes, preferably with experience on the TN Pulse platform Comfortable using Chromebooks and supporting accessibility for all learners Ability to complete fingerprinting and comply with all time-sensitive credentialing Primary responsibilities: Serve a diverse, itinerant caseload evenly split among elementary, middle, and high school students Collaborate closely with school teams and attend IEP meetings for assigned students Deliver direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and use of assistive technologies Travel between geographically assigned schools to provide equitable support Adapt instruction for inclusion in both mainstream and special education environments With flexible scheduling possible, this is a prime opportunity for educators passionate about breaking down barriers in learning.
