9529961-37377 Job Description Take the lead in shaping accessible educational experiences as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in the Chattanooga area. This contract opportunity spans the upcoming school year, with a potential for either full-time (35 hours per week) or part-time engagement, depending on your availability. Youll serve K-12+ students, working across elementary, middle, and high school settings. The role is entirely on-site, and youll provide services to a geographically assigned caseload, helping minimize daily travel. Your primary focus will be empowering students with visual impairments to thrive in general and special education environments. Youll be an active participant in IEP meetings, contribute your expertise using the TN Pulse platform, and advocate for the use of Assistive Technologyfamiliarity with Braille is essential, and knowledge of the Federal Quota program is a plus. Chromebooks are implementation tools within the district.
Desired Background and Qualifications:
Valid DOE teaching certification Experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in school-based settings Proficiency with Braille instruction Familiarity with current Assistive Technology for visually impaired students Understanding or experience with multi-categorical caseloads (general education and students with multiple disabilities) Fingerprint clearance (required for credentialing) Experience or comfort providing itinerant services and collaborating during IEP meetings
