A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description
Key Qualifications:
Valid Texas Educator Certificate Masters degree Educational Diagnostician certification from the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) At least three years of verifiable teaching experience Thorough understanding of evaluation procedures and familiarity with both initial assessments and re-evaluations Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Strong organizational and time-management skillsRole Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of approximately 100-120 middle school students, including both evaluations and re-evaluations Conduct formal assessments to determine students eligibility for special education or related services Potential to split time between two schools, including possible high school responsibilities Collaborate with educational staff, families, and service providers to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) Maintain accurate records and thorough documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to provide insight and recommendations Contribute to data-driven instructional planning and student support initiativesPerks and Benefits:
